Architect II (Kirkland, WA)
The Role:
This role requires broad architectural experience, good organizational skills, and deep creative thinking as MDA has a unique work environment – a non-traditional design studio made up of professionals working together to serve a healthy pipeline of organic growth in an exciting and expanding market.
As an Architect II, the role would require various duties, including:
- Project management: Manage the design and construction phase of projects, including construction professionals and administration.
- Design: Prepare schematics, design development, and construction drawings, including all necessary details.
- Project Budgeting: Adhere to time and cost budgets for both design and construction.
- Collaboration: Coordinate consultant work in Revit, and participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and prospective clients.
- Site visits/travel: Visit building worksites to ensure work is being done according to architectural plans. Estimated travel would be less than once a month.
- Additional responsibilities would include researching building and local codes, generating preliminary design schedules, selecting, evaluating, and implementing architectural procedures and techniques, and sharing across the team.
Special Note. Many of our projects serve the veterinarian and pet clinic market. Working around small pets and animals may be an occasional occurrence. These environments can have pet dander and hair.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture
- 4-6 years min post-college experience with an architectural design firm
- Architectural license, or on the path to licensure
- Proficient in Adobe or Bluebeam, MS Office Suite
- Advanced knowledge of Revit
- Proficient with building codes and standards
- Proficient with Comcheck building envelope reports
- Entry-level experience or beyond with Project management
- Personal love for animals is preferred but not required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ability to manage your own time and recognize priority of tasks within the team.
- Develop schematic designs in collaboration with project team
- Ability to lead meetings and communicate professionally with clients
- Maintain a project schedule / budget as outlined per project
- Coordinate with MEP, Structural, and Civil engineers per project and resolve basic issues
- Coordinate with product reps for requirements, specifications, and to resolve basic issues
- Ability to prepare full construction documentation with assistance for complex details
- Ability to lead the permitting / bidding processes with minor assistance from leadership
- Ability to write project manual specifications is preferred
- Assist the Construction Administrator / perform Construction Administration tasks
- Ability to independently develop basic exterior details and overall wall sections
- Develop miscellaneous architectural details for other projects as needed.
- Able to function as a valuable resource for colleagues with less experience.
Salary Range: $75,000-$89,000 per year depending on applicable experience
