What We Do
MD Architects is a full-service, relationship-based firm dedicated to providing superior planning, design, specifications, and construction guidance throughout each project.
The first, and arguably most critical, step in any successful development is a deep understanding of your vision and needs. We don’t just start designing; we partner with you to lay a thorough strategic foundation. Each project is unique, and we’re dedicated to crafting a plan that’s precisely tailored to your business goals, clinical aspirations, and long-term success.
Process optimization is critical to providing the best care and service possible. We use our architectural and design expertise from numerous industries to ask the right questions and create a space that accommodates efficient movement and maximizes workflow. The process of building new, remodeling, or expanding isn’t a one-size-fits-all, and we’re prepared to help navigate how design can solve your specific challenges.
Our preliminary design phase is where your vision begins to take tangible form. During this stage, our main goal is to deeply understand how you work, how patients move through your space, and how your team, clients, and animals interact within your facility. We don’t just design and sketch; we translate your operational rhythm and aspirations into a foundational architectural concept.
In design development, your vision comes to life through finish and material selection as we flush out the design concept. We continue to work through architectural detailing while focusing on coordination with all consultants to ensure form meets function in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural designs.
From the preliminary design, we can begin to develop site layout, review code analysis, and dive deeper into the layout of interior spaces. Working closely with the end user, we begin to explore casework, equipment, and furniture needs.
Once the design has been refined, our team moves into completing the drawing sets for construction, permitting, and bid pricing. Our experience and expertise in this area help ensure your project is detailed and specified for success in construction. During this phase, we focus on specifications, plans, elevations, wall sections, finishes, and any necessary details.
When construction is ready to begin, we walk alongside you and support the project to completion. Our project teams review shop drawings and submittals, attend contractor coordination and budget meetings, and are available for any request for information services.
As an advocate for you, we’re prepared to handle all specifications and submission needs. This includes applications and coordination for permitting, preparation of bid packages, invitations, and advertisements, question periods, as well as the receiving of bids, along with reviewing and advising selection.

What Our Clients Are Saying...
I will be forever grateful to MD for taking on my project; always being so kind, patient, and collaborative; and for hitting the ground running and taking me through the finish line!

MARIA MORGAN
Owner of Quail Animal Hospital
Rick and the team at MD Architects were true partners in the planning, design and construction process. The MD team embraced the many challenges of designing an attractive and highly functional mixed-use building on a small site in the Nickel Plate District of Fishers.
When the inevitable setbacks occurred in the design and construction process, Rick’s team responded with creative, timely and cost-efficient ideas to keep the project moving forward. We are thrilled with how the project turned out and grateful to have had the support of MD Architects throughout the process.”
CHRIS WELCH
Owner of Four Day Ray Brewing
I can’t overstate how easy the MDA team made this project for us. From the initial packet we received that solicited our input on general themes and color schemes, through design and build, they were extremely organized, efficient, and responsive to all of our questions and any concerns or adaptations we had throughout the project. I’ve done a lot of building projects and was prepared to do a lot of micromanaging and endure disruptions – we experienced none of that.
MDA’s coordination with our builder was excellent. The site supervisor for our builder commented on several occasions how much he appreciated working with them and that they had superior response time to his needs and queries. They have my unqualified recommendation… We couldn’t be happier with our new facility, both functionally and aesthetically.”
