It happens time and time again, people consult an architect and have no idea what questions they need to ask. This is perhaps the most important step in the process. Check out these questions that you need to ask your architect before you get started!

Does my project interest you?

This is probably the biggest oversight in this process. If your architect isn’t passionate about your project, the work will suffer. Luckily, you can always be assured that at our firm, we take every project seriously. The moment the idea takes hold, we work as if we’re designing it for ourselves.

How does communication in your firm work?

People are many times shocked to find out that there isn’t a clear chain of communication in the firm they hired. It should be comforting to know that you have a point of contact that you can refer all questions to, rather than sending several messages throughout the company that could be ignored.

Have you worked on a similar project?

Unfortunately, many firms might not be honest with you about their experience. It’s hard for a firm to say that they aren’t comfortable with the scope of a project and that many times means they don’t have any experience or the resources to do what you’re asking for. That isn’t always a bad thing, but just make sure that it is known ahead of time.

Does my budget fit the project?

It’s important to know from the start what a realistic budget is. You don’t want to get halfway through a project and have the architect ask for more money. They should be able to give you an answer as to whether your budget is ambitious enough or not, before the project begins.

Some of these questions may seem obvious but they can be commonly forgotten. It is important that you know exactly who you’re hiring. We’re happy to answer these questions and many more; we think you’re going to like what you hear. For more information, contact us and send us a message!
